Corresponding to conflict minerals

The conflict minerals, it is that of the mineral resources that are illegally produced in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and its neighboring countries(*1). This mineral resources becomes a source of funding warlords forces, and being conducive to conflict and human rights abuses, has become a global problem. Under such circumstances, the US Financial Regulatory Reform Law enacted in July 2010, and aims to cut off the funding source of the armed forces. It obliges companies listed on the US stock market to disclose information about the usage of 4 kinds of mineral (tantalum, tin, tungsten, gold) which are produced in these regions.

We, Matsuo Electric, in order to fulfill the corporate social responsibility with regard conflict mineral issue, adopt the company policy not to procure any of conflict minerals based on the proper survey about the origin and distribution process of minerals in supply chain. In addition, we are willing to cooperate with customers in the investigation related to conflict minerals for the purpose of elimination of conflict minerals, and will promote the responsible procurement activities. Meanwhile, some refiners have reported that using a mineral produced in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and its neighboring countries, however, we have identified that the refining of skill in the art has been certified as CFS(*2) according to CFS program, and we clearly state that there is no problem.

Corresponding to cobalt

There is no laws or regulations, like the US Financial Regulatory Reform Law, for cobalt.
However, as we explained about the confict minerals, we are required for the responsible procurement without non-safe labor environment, child labor, and others.

Cobalt is not used in our main products of chip tantalum electrolytic capacitors, circuit protection components, and film capacitors.
